How just 10 minutes can increase your fundraising

This is not rocket science or even some miraculous discovery, it is just a simple idea that very few people take advantage of.

Taking just 5 minutes to write an email to some friends and family is statistically proven to increase your fundraising dramatically.

As a preface, be yourself, don’t be scared, and remember you have probably donated to your friends, why did you do it? Because they asked.

Below are three samples that are easy to copy and paste into your own email system. (Gmail, Yahoo, etc)

*Remember* you need to put your fundraising page link into the content. Which looks something like this: http://my.cupids.org/YourName

—– Version 1: Our “Funny Version” (most effective) —————-

Recommended Subject Line: I’m running in undies, will you help me?

I’m running in public in my underwear… will you help me?

So I signed up for this event called Cupid’s Undie Run. Yeah, it’s just like it sounds. I’ll be running around… in public… in my undies… in the middle of February.

No, I didn’t lose a bet. Why do you ask?

I’m doing this because I just learned about kids who are born with tumors all over their bodies. Tumors that are causing blindness, deafness, severe pain, learning deficits and in some cases malignant cancer. That is not ok!

… so I’m on a mission to get some “exposure” for this disease called neurofibromatosis (NF) and raise research funding.

I’m asking for your donation today [YOUR FUNDRAISING PAGE LINK]

Clearly, I’ll do whatever it takes, even if that means stripping to my undies, risking hypothermia and/or never running for office!

Funds raised will go toward research through the Children’s Tumor Foundation, who are already in the process of shrinking these tumors! (No kidding, check this out)

All donations help whether it be $5, $50, or $5,000… it will go a long way toward helping those in need. Oh yeah, and they’re tax-deductible too.

—- Version 2: A more Serious Version —————

Recommended Subject Line: I’m fundraising, will you help me?

Dear All,

Have you ever looked into a parent’s eyes as they said the words, “I remember the day…”

“I remember the day the doctor walked in and said… ‘your daughter has NF.'”

I am reaching out to ask for your donation in my effort to help this parent and the millions around the world who struggle as they remember that day.

A day where they learned that their child has tumors growing inside that may cause a host of problems.

Will they go blind? Will these tumors become malignant? Today, we don’t know the exact answers to these questions, but that is why I am willing to do anything to help them.

That is why I will be running in Cupid’s Undie Run this February. That’s right, a run through the frigid streets, in my underwear, as a bold declaration that I can go through a little discomfort to help those going through this immense struggle on a daily basis.

Whether the gift is $5 or $500, your giving will have a great impact in our pursuit to find solutions. Funds go toward the Children’s Tumor Foundation’s research efforts which are already on their way to possibly shrinking these tumors for good!

Most sincerely grateful,

—– Version 3: A more general email for everyone ———–

Recommended Subject Line: I’d appreciate your help, just 2 mins.

I need your help.

I’m fundraising for the Children’s Tumor Foundation and kindly ask for a donation. Anything helps!
